After the arrival of the Europeans in the Americas, the red pepper was initially integrated into Spanish cuisine, and then into the cuisine of other parts of Europe, particularly into Italian gastronomy. Red peppers are high in calcium, vitamin A, and vitamin C.
While its greatest use is as a condiment and spice to add flavor to foods, the red pepper is also known for its analgesic properties.
