OUR FARMS
Mashamba currently depends on two farms for its production and is acquiring a third one.
Mashamba has three farms of its own, in which it cultivates its fruits and vegetables, and offers advice and technical assistance to affiliated small farmers who form part of the company’s supply network. Mashamba’s investment in Uganda has offered stable employment to farmers in a sector where there income and employment are otherwise tenuous.
KIGEREGE FARM
The Kigerege Farm, in the township of Luwero, has 80 hectares and is the one in operation for the longest period of time.
THE MASHAMBA FARM
The Mashamba Farm, the principal source of supply for the company, cultivates the main fruits and vegetables for distribution to the European market: red peppers, chili, and matoke (green bananas), among other products. About thirty employees work at this farm, which has benefited from important physical improvements in infrastructure. The farm has 100 hectarees and it's located a few kilometers from Uganda’s capital, Kampala.
MASHAMBA GROWS
In 2008, there will be an additional farm, 100 hectares in size, also in Luwero, that will begin operating to meet the increasing demand for produce of the company.
